What is IPL Hair Removal?

IPL is an abbreviation for Intense Pulsed Light technology, which is a type of skin treatment that uses a broader light spectrum than laser, so it can treat a broader range of hair colors and skin types. Furthermore, when compared to laser, it treats a much larger area of skin per light pulse, resulting in a faster and more cost-effective treatment process.

Pink Parlour offers advanced hair removal technology such as Pink Parlour Alpha Light IPL Hair Removal Technology which uses light to effectively damage hair follicles, allows heat transfer to the roots, and effectively stops hair growth. Depending on the technology, light and heat are delivered to the skin differently.

Pink Parlour Alpha Light IPL Hair Removal Technology will keep your skin hair-free indefinitely. Unwanted hair will be removed and signs of aging will be reduced. Other applications include lightening darker patches of skin, reducing scars, and improving the appearance of spider veins. Pink Parlour Alpha Light IPL Hair Removal Technology is a popular and cost-effective hair removal method. Its procedure is brief and uncomplicated.

IPL Acne Management

IPL technology also treats acne. It is specifically designed to slow the overall production of oil that causes acne, dramatically reducing the chance of blemishes, while minimizing the appearance of enlarged pores.

IPL Acne Management treatments should be spaced about 1-2 weeks apart, to allow the skin's natural regeneration cycle to play a role in the healing process.

The use of blue light during IPL Acne treatment can improve acne and scarring while leaving surrounding healthy skin tissue alone.

IPL Vascular Therapy

It is estimated that 60% of the adult population has a problem with unsightly veins, which is why they seek a quick and effective solution - IPL treatment, which can cure vascular concerns by releasing strong but controlled impulses of light that are absorbed by the blood vessels, heating them to the point where they are destroyed. The blood vessels clear quickly and are absorbed by the body, leaving no trace of the original lesion.

The treatment requires no downtime, so you can resume your normal activities immediately following the procedure. To achieve the best results, a series of 4-6 treatments spaced 2-3 weeks apart, is usually required.

IPL Photo Rejuvenation

Skin rejuvenation is one of the most popular IPL treatments for dullness, skin aging, and skin damage. During the procedure, the IPL system improves radiance and skin tightness while controlling enlarged pores and promoting a smoother, more uniform complexion.

Sun exposure damages the skin and reduces collagen production, weakening cell structure and causing lines, wrinkles, redness, and uneven skin tone.

The IPL Skin Rejuvenation treatment improves skin tone and texture while refining and regenerating the skin by stimulating the natural production of collagen and elastin for a smoother, healthier, and more youthful complexion.

IPL Pigmentation Correction

Intense Pulse Light technology, when used to treat pigmentation issues, emits precisely controlled strong impulses of filtered light that are absorbed by the melanin in freckles, sun spots, and liver spots. The pigmented area absorbs light and is heated to the point where the skin renews itself with new, healthy cells. The pigmented area becomes darker after treatment and crusting is completely normal. The pigmented area will gradually flake away from the skin over the next few weeks, leaving little trace of the original mark.

Everyone has sunspots, freckles, or skin discoloration that they'd like to get rid of and treat with an IPL machine, whether they were born with them or acquired them over time. To achieve optimal results, clients will need a treatment cycle of 4 - 6 treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart.

What happens during IPL hair removal?

A handheld device will be passed over the target area, delivering pulses of intense light to penetrate the layers of skin. During treatment, most patients describe a fast, pinching sensation with minimal discomfort. There is no need for injections or incisions, giving patients the added benefit of no downtime.

Here is a video introduction to how the Painless Alpha Light IPL hair removal works:

To achieve optimal results, a course of 6-8 treatments is usually required (however, once the client has completed the treatment cycle, they can look forward to a lifetime of smooth skin with only occasional maintenance treatment required).

Does IPL Hair Removal hurt?

It depends on the pain threshold of the person. However, IPL hair removal is usually considered to be less painful than laser treatment. The pain could range from little to none and is commonly described as a warm feeling or ‘pinging’ sensation. As you continue your sessions, the pain will lessen. The less hair there is, the less painful it is.

How long will the session take?

IPL treatments last between 15 minutes and 1 hour, depending on the area being treated.

How long will it take to see results?

It depends on the thickness of the hair in the targeted area. IPL takes at least 6 sessions to get rid of 70% of hair permanently. Hair, like skin, goes through cycles: there is a growth phase, a rest phase, and a shedding phase. Your hairs are not all going through the same cycle at the same time. To catch all of them and permanently get rid of them, you almost have to chase the cycles. This is why IPL or even laser treatments must be repeated.

Aftercare treatment

Shower at least 4-6 hours after your session. You should avoid deodorant, perfume, and hot showers during your recovery period until the swelling has gone down. Following this period, individuals should moisturize the treated area at least twice a day, for at least three months. Sunscreen is strongly advised. Any hair that grows in between sessions should be shaved, rather than waxed or threaded.

Who is suitable for IPL Hair Removal?

Not all hair colors and skin types yield the same results. As the chart below shows, IPL works well on dark blonde, brown, and black hair, as well as most skin tones except for very dark tones.
